Privacy Policy
This policy explains what CoBrew collects, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have.

01
Who We Are
CoBrew is a mobile app and website that helps people find work-friendly public places, review spot amenities, and optionally join or start in-person work sessions called Brews. In this Privacy Policy, “CoBrew,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the operator of the CoBrew app, website, and related services.
If you have questions or requests about privacy, contact us at [email protected].
02
Information You Provide
We collect information you choose to provide, including:
- account information such as your name, email address, authentication provider, username, phone number, city, profile photo, bio, work/study details, and profile preferences;
- legal acceptance records, including when you confirmed that you are at least 18 years old and the versions of the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy you accepted; we do not currently require or store your full date of birth for this confirmation;
- waitlist and beta access information such as your name, email address, country, city and state, requested platform, and signup date;
- spot submissions, amenity ratings, vibe scores, reviews, notes, helpful votes, reports, and correction requests;
- Brew information such as the spot, start time, duration, visibility, host, participants, comments, likes, and prompts associated with a Brew;
- friend requests, blocks, report reasons, support requests, and other messages you send to us.
03
Location, Contacts, Photos, and Device Permissions
CoBrew asks for foreground location permission so we can show nearby spots, Brews, distances, and map results. When you use these features, your device coordinates are processed for active nearby-search, map, and city-resolution requests and may be sent to our backend and mapping providers. We do not require background location to use CoBrew, do not maintain a continuous history of your live device location, and do not show your precise live device location to other users. Brews are tied to named public spots, not private homes or your exact real-time coordinates.
If you choose to find friends from contacts, CoBrew reads phone numbers from your address book with your permission, normalizes them on your device, and sends the normalized numbers to our backend to look for existing CoBrew users. We do not use contact names for matching and do not intend to store your full address book as a contacts list. Service and security logs may temporarily contain request data.
If you choose to add a profile picture, CoBrew asks for photo library access and stores the selected image so it can be shown in your profile. If you enable push notifications, we store an Expo push token, platform, and notification preferences so we can send reminders and app notifications.
04
Information Collected Automatically
We may collect technical information needed to operate and secure CoBrew, such as device type, operating system, app version, timestamps, authentication/session records, error logs, request logs, approximate location derived from app use, and basic usage events such as creating, joining, or viewing Brews and spots.
We use this information to provide the service, prevent abuse, debug issues, measure reliability, and understand which parts of the app need improvement.
05
Third-Party Services
CoBrew relies on third-party services to operate. These providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies. They may include:
- Supabase for authentication, database, storage, and backend infrastructure;
- Mapbox for maps, map rendering, location search, and related map services;
- Google services for Google sign-in, Google Places identifiers used for spot administration, and Google Maps links;
- Apple for Sign in with Apple and platform services;
- Expo for push notification delivery and mobile app infrastructure;
- Apple App Store, Google Play, RevenueCat, or similar payment/subscription services if paid subscriptions are enabled.
We do not receive or store full payment card numbers when purchases are handled by an app store or payment processor. We may receive subscription status, product, transaction, renewal, trial, cancellation, refund, platform, and app-user identifiers needed to provide paid access and customer support.
06
How We Use Information
We use information to:
- create and manage your account;
- show nearby spots, Brews, spot details, reviews, and amenity filters;
- let you create, join, edit, or leave Brews;
- let you add, review, and help improve spot information;
- help users find friends, send friend requests, and use friends-only features;
- send transactional messages, reminders, beta invites, and support responses;
- review reports, enforce rules, prevent fraud, and protect users;
- administer subscriptions, trials, founding pricing, rewards, and beta programs;
- operate, debug, secure, and improve CoBrew.
07
Safety, Reports, and Moderation
When you submit a report, we collect the report reason, any details you provide, the reporting account, the reported user or content, timestamps, and relevant account or activity context. Authorized personnel and service providers may review profiles, Brew details, participation records, comments, reviews, blocks, prior reports, and related records when reasonably necessary to assess safety, abuse, fraud, or policy violations.
We use this information to investigate reports, identify repeated or coordinated abuse, enforce our rules, protect users and venues, respond to legal requests, and preserve evidence. We may disclose information to emergency services, law enforcement, regulators, courts, or affected people when required by law or when we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to address a credible threat, fraud, or serious safety issue.
08
What Other Users Can See
Depending on your settings and activity, other users may see your display name, username, avatar, city, public profile information, friend status, public Brews you host or join, reviews, ratings, helpful votes, and other community contributions. Your participation in a Brew may be visible to the Brew's permitted audience before, during, and after the Brew.
Friends-only Brews and friend-related features are intended to be visible only to the relevant audience, but you should still avoid posting sensitive personal information in profiles, reviews, Brew details, or messages.
Other users may save, copy, photograph, screenshot, or share information they can see. CoBrew cannot control what another person does with information after they receive or capture it.
09
How We Share Information
We may share information:
- with other users as needed to provide public profiles, Brews, reviews, and social features;
- with service providers who help us host, store, process, analyze, secure, or deliver CoBrew;
- with app stores or payment processors for purchases, subscriptions, refunds, and fraud prevention;
- with venues, sponsors, or commercial partners when needed to operate a clearly disclosed sponsored or venue-hosted Brew or promotion;
- with law enforcement, regulators, courts, or other parties when required by law or necessary to protect rights, safety, and security;
- in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or transfer of the service.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your precise location for third-party advertising.
We may provide venues or sponsors with aggregated or de-identified performance information. We will not provide them with your contact information or identify you as an attendee for their independent marketing unless we give you notice and have an appropriate legal basis, such as your consent.
10
Your Choices and Rights
You can update much of your profile in the app. You can disable location, contacts, photos, or notification permissions through your device settings, though some features may stop working without those permissions.
You can delete your account from Settings in the app. You may also contact us at [email protected] to request access, correction, deletion, or help with privacy questions. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
11
Retention
We keep information for as long as needed to provide CoBrew, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, prevent abuse, and maintain backups and security records.
When you delete your account, we aim to delete or anonymize account-related information within a reasonable period, generally within 30 days, unless we need to retain certain records for safety, legal, anti-abuse, backup, or legitimate business purposes.
Public reviews, spot corrections, Brew comments, and similar community contributions may remain in anonymized or de-identified form when needed to preserve community context. Reports, moderation decisions, blocked-user records, transaction records, consent records, and identifiers associated with suspended or banned accounts may be kept longer when reasonably necessary to prevent repeat abuse, document decisions, resolve disputes, comply with law, or protect users and CoBrew.
Backup copies and provider logs may remain for a limited period after deletion until they are overwritten or expire under our providers' normal retention processes.
12
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. No internet or mobile service is completely secure, so you use CoBrew with the understanding that we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13
Children and Minors
CoBrew is intended only for people who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly permit minors to create accounts or use the service. If we learn that a person under 18 has created an account or provided personal information, we may suspend the account and take appropriate steps to delete the information, subject to legal, safety, anti-abuse, and record-retention requirements.
If you believe a minor is using CoBrew, contact us at [email protected].
14
International Use
CoBrew is operated from the United States. If you use CoBrew from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate.
15
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as CoBrew changes. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify users, such as posting the updated policy, updating the date above, or providing an in-app notice.
